Getting food took some planning since there’s nowhere to eat within walking distance, and we found Grab options limited. We had to take a scooter or car out, though Wilma kindly let us bring takeaway to the shared area and supplied plates and cutlery. The location does give the place its beautiful forest views, and the pool was wonderfully relaxing. We stayed in a spacious family suite with a private pool, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a fridge. It was spotless and beautifully done, with forest views right from the doors. Wilma was quick to reply on Whatsapp and did everything she could to make us comfortable. With two small children, we were also given an extra mattress for the floor. Breakfast arrived in our room each day, with a mix of Malaysian and Western dishes, plus pancakes, waffles, or French toast with fruit for the kids.

We only came for a durian day trip, not a farm stay, though we might consider staying on a future visit. Mr Chang was friendly and helpful, and introduced us to at least four durian varieties we hadn’t even heard of. It’s worth considering a visit, and booking ahead is recommended.

I was trying to book one night at the farm for May 2026 through AGODA. The system said the date was too far ahead and told me to contact the farm, but it still let me make a reservation. After I entered my card details, the booking was confirmed. Only then did I notice it was for late January 2026, not May. I contacted AGODA and Bao Sheng farm right away. AGODA tried to help cancel, but the farm refused to cancel or move the booking to May 2026. They said the May rate would be $1200 rather than the listed $115 because it’s peak season, and that the rate I got was special, so it couldn’t be changed or cancelled. I said the system should have warned me or asked me to confirm if it was changing my requested dates. I was told the farm would charge me $115 even if I didn’t show up. This feels grossly unfair and dishonest. Others, beware. I’ll update this review by the end of the month if the farm agrees not to charge me unfairly.

It’s a lovely place, and the view from my bedroom was straight into the forest. My family room had its own pool, and being high up among the trees, away from the main tourist areas, was exactly what I wanted. Transport can be tricky in that location. Getting a Grab was difficult, but InDrive worked well. Rides cost DM 50 to most places and sometimes DM 80 at night, which felt worthwhile to me. The people were lovely too. After a blissful trip to Penang Hill, I completely forgot I was meant to check out that day. They kindly gave me time to shower. If you go to Penang Hill, head there early and buy an express ticket online to avoid the queues.

A beautiful, peaceful spot up in the jungle, with stunning nature all around. It isn’t fancy or luxurious, but getting Grab rides and food delivered is manageable. Melanie and her sister are lovely and help out if you need anything. I’ll definitely come back, so don’t miss booking a stay.
