Bayu Balau Beach Resort

The dining area wasn't very clean, and the food was below standard and not worth the price. Portions were small, dishes arrived cold and tasteless, and some looked old rather than fresh. The cooking was poor too. This was by far the worst hotel I've stayed in, and I wouldn't recommend eating here. Would I come back? No.

On a class trip with friends and a guide from Nomad, I had a horrible time. The room's toilet area was cramped, with no wall separating the toilet bowl from the shower, so everything got soaked and uncomfortable. I was surprised the air conditioning even worked. My bed had hair and bloodstains on it, which was disgusting. The meals were inedible. Food was low quality or not cooked properly, and I found redness inside a deep-fried fish. The water they provided tasted like mentos and had lots of bits that looked like microplastic, so it was undrinkable. Staff were rude and unhelpful, saying things like “sort yourself out” or “sorry, I don't know what you are talking about.” The reception had very little exchange money, which was a problem when we couldn't buy anything from the vending machine. The whole trip felt embarrassing. I wouldn't recommend this resort, and other people in my class were just as disappointed. This happens once a year, but our school may stop coming if the resort doesn't improve.

For a seaside resort with a great view, the price wasn't steep, so I can't ask for much more. Everything else was good, though breakfast wasn't very interesting.

The beach is right by the pool, and the place has a great atmosphere. There were monkeys around the parking lot, but they didn't seem wild. Just keep all food and packaging out of sight, since they notice the smell too. The pool water looked clear, though there was quite a bit of residue and it seemed like it needed stronger filtration. I didn't get itchy afterward, so the water seemed fine to me. The main pool goes down to 1.6 m, with the kids' pool attached.
