Jma Ferringhi Beach Hotel

For such a low price, I wasn’t expecting much, so I can’t complain about the room. The bed was clean and comfortable enough, and the toilet was reasonably clean too.

The bathroom smelled of urine, and its floor was so sharp that my feet hurt badly. There were no bathroom slippers. The mattress and blanket made me itchy, and there’s no parking nearby. The front desk staff didn’t know how to issue a refund. It wasn’t worth the price.

The reception staff were nice and polite, and the room felt worth the price. It was clean, had no bad smell, and there was enough space to solat, which mattered most to me. Both the standing fan and AC were there, and the AC worked without leaking. The bathroom did smell, as others have mentioned. I hated the tiles and had to tiptoe, and I could feel sand on the floor, maybe because the hotel is near the beach. The door had loose screws, the queen bed was two single beds pushed together, and the pillow was too flat. There are also a few stairs to climb, so it may not suit older people. Still, I had a good staycation and found it comfortable enough for one night in Batu Ferringhi. Satisfaction level: 3 👏😸😿

We had an emergency and booked here because it was convenient, but the place was a mess. I know the saying in Malaysia is that you get what you pay for, but RM70 still felt like too much. There was no parking, despite my call beforehand being told there was. We ended up parking at a restaurant a fair walk away. The rooms smelled damp and musty, and both of us had a bad sinus episode that lasted all night. We couldn’t sleep. The bedding was dirty, and my husband heard something crawling in his pillow. We don’t know if it was bed bugs, but his skin was itchy the next day. The toilet pipes and toilet paper holder were rusty too. Our key card kept failing to open the door. The two Indian receptionists blamed us in Tamil, saying we didn’t know how to open it. My husband understood them but stayed quiet to avoid a scene. They tried several times themselves before finally getting the door open. We checked out early because we couldn’t take it anymore. The attitude at reception was awful. When I checked in and confirmed I had a double room, one of them said, “WHY LA DOUBLE ROOM AGAIN?” angrily, stormed off, and took ten minutes to get the room ready. They seemed very unprofessional and unwilling to help. Cleaners were sitting on the floor in the room aisle like beggars, and one was smoking. Good job, hotel owner. This place is going downhill.
