Shamrock Boutique Villa

The location was lovely, close to the floating mosque, but I don't think the 9.1 rating is deserved. The water pressure was weak, the TV didn't work, and the Wi-Fi was completely out. Maybe 7.8 would be fair. It's a four storey house, so expect plenty of stairs inside.

We recently lost RM800 after cancelling our Booking.com reservation because the room description was misleading. It said there were six rooms, but looking closely at the photos, two of them are really connected, sharing an entrance and bathroom. You have to go through Bedroom 2 to reach Bedroom 1, and also to get to the bathroom, so Bedroom 2 has no privacy. We were travelling as six couples, and there was no way two couples could share a room, so we had to cancel. Trying to communicate with the owner was frustrating. The owner wouldn't admit the misconduct, and we couldn't report the misleading information.

The rooms were great and it was a very quiet place to stay, but the paint seems to be affected by water leakage and parking was insufficient. We had to climb stairs to reach the rooms. The TV didn't handle YouTube well and kept having connection issues, which ruined the night.

We’ve rented plenty of homestays on trips and never had anything like this. This villa was a serious disappointment, and the whole situation felt unacceptable. The gate was held shut with a wire because it wouldn’t lock, so we worried about our cars overnight. Inside, the TV picture was blurry, and the person in charge told us to adjust the cable behind it ourselves. The upstairs air conditioner blew hot air all day, even after we called and were told to wait for it to cool down. There was no toilet paper in any of the villa’s five bathrooms. The person in charge replied late at night, saying the cleaner had forgotten it, so we had to buy our own. Wifi was listed in the Agoda booking details, but just hours before check-in we were told there wasn’t any. An hour before arrival, we also received a list of rules that weren’t on the Agoda page, with a warning that our deposit could be deducted if we didn’t follow them. One rule said used towels had to be left in the living room. We’re tenants, not your kakak. The rules also said we’d have to pay if door handles were broken. One knob was already broken when we arrived. Luckily we took photos, or we could have been blamed and lost part of our deposit. The person in charge wouldn’t answer calls and only replied by message, sometimes late at night. That’s a real problem if something urgent comes up. We regret choosing this villa without reading the reviews first. If you’re running an Airbnb, you need to take responsibility and show some empathy. I hope others don’t make the same mistake we did. I also left a bad review on Agoda, but Agoda amended it to make it acceptable.
