Room V @ Jalan Sultanah Near Bus Stop Batu Pahat

The photos made the rooms look like good value, but I was badly mistaken. The hallways and rooms were dark, dingy, and dirty, and the place felt like a prison. The plaster walls did nothing to block sound: footsteps and even drops of water carried into the room. I was woken several times by racing cars speeding along the road in the middle of the night. Poor service and terrible sound insulation. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

There was no TV, which I could accept, but the toilet sink was very dirty and there was a visible urine mark on the plastic toilet seat. I couldn’t sleep at all because of the noise from cars and motorcycles revving. The location wasn’t good for a quiet night.

I expected better after seeing “boutique hotel” on the booking site, but I was very disappointed. The room was dusty and hadn’t been cleaned, and without a bathroom ventilation fan, smells came back into the room after someone used the toilet. I didn’t feel safe or comfortable with the hygiene here. The place seems to call itself unique, but the renovation appeared to consist of stickers pasted on the lift and doors, while broken things weren’t properly fixed. This is my first and last stay.

I stay in budget hotels fairly often, and there was nothing wrong with this one for me. My wife did complain that the staff were talking too loudly in the aisle. If Katerina or Pinetree are outside your budget and the other well-located budget hotels are full, this could be an option.
