I’m a long-term monthly guest. The single room is spacious enough for that, and they change the towels every three days, with weekly housekeeping and room make-up. My room doesn’t come with tissues, drinking water, tea sachets, or toilet soap and toilet tissue. You can buy snacks, water, and cold drinks at the counter, and order cooked food there too. There’s a shared ironing board on each floor. The staff and service are very good.

The hotel’s old exterior and the surrounding buildings might give the wrong impression. Inside, our basic two-room unit was spacious and good value, with two queen beds, a living area, and a small kitchenette. We were also glad to find a lift, since many hotels in this class don’t have one, and it made handling our larger luggage easier. It would suit a longer stay or anyone wanting a decent, homely, comfortable place to sleep.

We booked a family room for a short vacation in Bintulu. It had a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, and one shared toilet. The rooms were tidy and very clean, and with three air conditioners I felt comfortable staying there.

The receptionist did her job well at the front desk, but the staycation was a really bad experience and the service needs improvement. The toilet had no doormat, the exhaust fan didn’t work, and there didn’t seem to be a hot shower. The air-conditioning control on the wall was faulty, and they didn’t provide another remote. There was no customer service number posted in the room. It felt like I’d been given a broken room, and it wasn’t worth staying there.

The manager and staff were friendly and helpful, and the two-bedroom studio was good value. The toilet floor tiles could use a scrub, though, and the heater wasn’t working.
