Cameron Highlands Apartment (Golden Hill) B-3A-7

The one thing going for this apartment is its location, close to shops, 7-11, and the pasar malam. But it is on the second level, so there was noise from the night market and parking area, plus BBQ smells from the restaurant downstairs. Inside, the upkeep was poor: stained walls, cobwebs, and dusty, yellowish bedsheets with marks on them. One toilet's water heater was broken, so that shower was cold. There was no toilet paper, hair dryer, or towels, and you'll need to bring your own toiletries. Plates and cups were scarce; the gas stove had no gas, so cooking wasn't possible. No wifi, and the TV had no channels either. Very disappointing.

I asked whether a motorcycle was available and got the stupid answer, “With this rain, how are you going to ride a bike?” If it wasn't available, they could have just said so. Maybe the aunty at the front desk never went to school because Tapah was too far for her to attend.

We were 10 adults and 6 kids and booked the four-bedroom house, which was spacious and had a water heater that worked perfectly. We were satisfied with our stay. It would be helpful to have a microwave, extra blankets and pillows, and a hanger for the big cupboard. Thank you.

The apartment was new and clean, and ours had four rooms on the top floor. We booked through Airbnb, and each unit gets one parking space, so with another vehicle you may have to park outside. It's within walking distance of the night market. The area is still new, with many shops not open yet, though there are a few steamboat and Western restaurants across the road. Good value for the location, but not ideal if you don't have any transport.
