Royale Chulan Cherating Villa

There are shops and cafes within walking distance, and the beach feels almost like our own private stretch. It's clean, as is the property. My wife and I keep coming back to Cherating, and we usually stay here because it feels comfortable and homely. The staff are courteous and nice. Some room furnishings and areas are starting to look dated, so I hope management considers refurbishing them. Still a nice resort to stay at.

The room was roomy, with a lovely view of the beach, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A few things need attention. The coffee was poor in the room and at the breakfast buffet. The fruit selection was limited, and we unfortunately spotted sandflies on the fruit. The path to the rooms felt dark and had noticeable insects, with shrubs overgrown between the plants. Also, the raised divider inside the room is slippery and could be dangerous, especially for children. The hotel has a lot of potential, and fixing these issues would make the stay much better.

We booked 12 rooms for a family day, with mostly senior citizens in our group. The hotel was accommodating and arranged for nearly all of us to be on the lower level, with only a few rooms upstairs. The staff also helped take some group photos so we could capture the occasion, which we really appreciated. The breakfast was simple and the food was okay. Teh tarik was the star. We had a great time and even tried surfing. This hotel seems like a heaven for surfers, though we came for the family gathering.

Jerry made a real difference after our first honeymoon stay didn't meet expectations for a room costing RM700+ per night. We had initially given it 2 stars because of the problems with the room. Soon after we shared our feedback, Jerry personally got in touch, apologised sincerely, and offered an upgrade to a better, more private room away from the restaurant's annual dinner event. The new room was much more comfortable and private, and suited a honeymoon better. Jerry showed us a few room options and went out of his way to help us feel comfortable. We appreciated the professional service recovery and updated the rating from 2 stars to 5 right away. Thank you, Jerry.
