OYO 90120 Mi Hotel Dungun

The toilet in my room was in an extremely poor state, making the stay unpleasant and uncomfortable. I know a budget hotel won't offer luxury amenities, but a clean, usable bathroom is a basic need. I also saw safety hazards around the property, including poorly aligned staircases that could put guests at risk. Those things need attention whatever the room rate is. For what I paid, the overall experience didn't feel like good value. Budget places may not match the service and quality of upscale hotels, but they still need to balance affordability with a reasonable level of comfort and safety. In my experience, this hotel didn't meet even basic expectations. The hazards and poor facilities outweighed any savings, and I'd urge other travelers to look carefully at their options for somewhere safer and better value.

The front office staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. But I won't stay here again. The room had a strong cigarette smell, and the gray floor carpet was worn and felt dirty. The bedsheet and pillow cover may have been changed, but the pillow still smelled of stale sweat. Noise from the corridor and neighboring rooms came through as if there were no walls or doors. Getting to the reception on the second level means climbing a steep flight of stairs, so it could be difficult if you're disabled or unfit. At the same price, there are cleaner options.

We only stayed two nights because it was close to our main destination. The first night wasn't too bad, but the room on the second night was a mess. There was a bird nest in the toilet, the room smelled bad, and the toilet had yellowish marks. The wall felt raspy, and the aircond didn't seem to cool properly even when we set it to 16. The TV had no signal at all. The line was poor, and thankfully there was Wi-Fi, though it wasn't strong. The selimut wasn't really a blanket, just a hotel bedsheet. Typical budget hotel. There are lots of shops in the area, at least.

I only stayed one night. The aircond worked well, the bathroom was fairly clean, and the TV worked fine. Caltex is right next door, with a supermarket a short walk away. The real problem was the cigarette smoke that lingered the whole stay. I don't know where it came from, since my husband doesn't smoke. And there were mosquitoes. Seriously, mosquitoes.
