Riverbank Dungun Guesthouse & Cafe

The location works well for divers heading to Tenggol, and for the price this place is a real bargain. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable, with what you need for a dive trip. The staff are very friendly and happy to chat, which gives the place a welcoming feel. The food is good too. Their tomyam is decent, and it's prepared by a chef from Thailand.

The guesthouse has its own cafe, and the food there is quite tasty. My room was clean and ready.

The bed was clean, and the room had air conditioning, WiFi, and a hairdryer. It's within walking distance of the dive shop, and there's a restaurant in the building. They don't change the towels or bedsheets during your stay. It also took me a while to work out the hot shower: the temperature has to be at maximum and the water flow very low before it feels warm.

I came back for a second stay as a scuba diver and had a fabulous time, with great memories. The managers, Adrian and Wai, are friendly and often around the lobby chatting with guests. All the staff were great. I spent ten days here and didn't get bitten by a single bug. I think some complaints about bedbugs may actually be stings from jellyfish or coral. The location is especially convenient for divers. The dive centre is just a few steps away, and the jetty is right in front of the hotel. Parking is free for guests. My room was spacious enough for dive equipment and camera gear, with plenty of power points for charging cameras, video lights, and other things. The aircon was cold and quiet, and the bathroom was spacious and nice. I ate dinner at the restaurant twice when I didn't feel like driving into Dungun town. The food was delicious and portions were good. Breakfast was fresh each day, and they cleaned the rooms daily and replenished the supplies. I highly recommend it for divers.
