Wyndham Ion Majestic Genting Highlands

We stayed in a two-room unit and found both rooms clean, tidy, and well maintained. It was a comfortable stay, and we'd consider coming back. The issue was in the bathroom: the rain shower selector button wasn't working properly, and its cover came off while we were using it. That needs maintenance attention.

There's potential for this to become a top hotel, but the experience wasn't the best. Management needs to be more customer oriented, and even getting shuttle service is a paid hassle. Staff training also needs attention, as some staff couldn't speak English properly. The swimming pool had no lifeguard present, which was concerning, and there were no clinic or medical services available. Since the rooftop is such an iconic place in Genting, they could consider making it a tourist attraction for guests from other hotels or opening it to the public.

Think twice before booking. This doesn't feel like a 5-star hotel: the rooms are very basic, the sheets were stained, and we had no view. The toilet and hallway smelled bad too. We arrived for check-in at 3:30pm but were told no room was ready and had to wait. At 4:30pm they said there was no room with a view, so we took one without a view after the receptionist said we could switch the next morning. When we asked the next morning, there was no room available and they told us to check again later. By evening, we were told the hotel was fully booked and couldn't move us. It's far from the shopping and food up at Genting, so you need to keep taking Grab or driving back and forth. A hotel up there would be much more convenient and save the Grab fare.

The food was a real highlight for me as a pure vegetarian. I found a Pure veg Thali at the hotel with Indian bread, rice, three curries including panner, rice with dal fry, and two pieces of Gulab Jamun. It was superb, definitely recommended. I also tried Black cat Lazy Wellness for the first time. It was crazy and superb, another recommendation. The location was fantastic, with mountain views and easy access to nearby attractions, shops, and restaurants. The cool weather made the trip even nicer. My room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a cozy bed and large windows looking over the highlands. Housekeeping kept it tidy throughout. Staff were welcoming and ready to help, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. I had a really pleasant, relaxing stay at Ion majestic hotel. I'd recommend it for either a short getaway or a longer vacation, and I'm looking forward to coming back. 😊
