A Cozy Place Penang

The owner’s local food tips were the highlight for me. I stayed just one night, but he gave me lots of suggestions when I asked, and kept sending recommendations even after I checked out. One of the wonton noodle places he mentioned turned out to be one of my best meals in Penang and honestly made my day. The place is tucked away in the middle of George Town’s heritage area, close to just about everywhere on foot. There are three shared spaces with great lighting and a really relaxed balcony where I spent an hour watching the street. It felt like a hidden gem compared with the busy roads outside.

For the price, it’s very reasonable and the stay was pleasant. Two things bothered us, though: our room had no window, and the toilet smelled pretty bad because its door into the room didn’t seal.

The owner was there to help when my email didn’t come through and I couldn’t find the self-check-in details. He stepped in with such a positive attitude that we felt at home right away. The rooms and bathroom were large and clean, with thoughtful extras like earplugs and toothbrushes. The location is ideal, near Armenian Street and George Town’s highlights. I’d highly recommend staying here, it’s worth the money.

Even arriving after midnight, when I’m especially sensitive to things going wrong, I found the place met my expectations. The room was clean, spacious and quiet, in a safe area near food centres and all the must-see spots in Penang. Highly recommended.
