We had a good time and would recommend it for a Georgetown trip. The location is central but still quiet, and the service was very good, with a warm welcome and lots of information. Coffee, tea, fruit, and biscuits are available for everyone to serve themselves, and the shared bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Our room was okay for the price, though the walls are thin and there was a slightly weird smell.

Carnarvon House was a comfortable, quiet place to rest after a day out, and the staff were welcoming and always willing to help. It’s well placed for exploring George Town on foot. We loved our stay in Penang and highly recommend it for discovering the city.

I stayed one night in November 2025 and loved the whole house. It’s an old place, but everything was clean, neat, and well maintained, with authentic Chinese household decor that made it feel like home. I think it has three floors: a lobby and kitchen downstairs, bedrooms on the top two. There’s a mini library on the second floor with novels to read, though I tried to buy one and they’re not for sale. The room was spacious, and the AC worked really well. Eva was warm and very helpful during my stay. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Penang.

The location is excellent, with everything less than ten minutes away. The foyer is amazing, and the rooms are neat and pleasant. They’re basic, as you’d expect for the price, but the beds are clean and super comfortable. Eva and Nicole were fantastic when we needed a driver for a complicated transfer out of Penang. They coordinated with the driver and our next hotel several times to get everything sorted. A fantastic budget option, definitely recommend!

Like many old city buildings, this one has been converted into lodging. The rooms are all upstairs, while there’s a little pantry on the first floor with biscuits out all day. The shared bathrooms and toilets were clean. Rooms are simple but clean too.
