OYO 90838 Ros Heritage Motel

The owners were friendly and the location is really good. The rooms, though, are small and very dirty, with brown marks all over the walls that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. There was also a strange smell, and I don't even want to get into the toilet hygiene. If you don't mind living in a dirty place, this might suit you.

We arrived after praying in Ipoh and were really disappointed by the room. It smelled of drainage, the bed was broken and poorly made, and the place wasn't maintained. There were cockroaches around, and it wasn't clean. The staff were harsh and rushed us about the booking. They had shown nice pictures when we booked through WhatsApp. The place is almost 20 steps up, with no lift for older people. We were so unhappy with the service that, by God's grace, we finally found somewhere better and cheaper at 2am. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. If I could give zero stars, I would, but one was the minimum.

The only good thing was how many restaurants, shops, and other amenities were nearby. The room had no windows or ventilation, and was very dirty. There were lots of bed bugs in the mattresses and pillows. Covers had been put over them, but the mattresses and pillows clearly hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The walls were filthy too, even though their oil paint should make them easy to clean. The toilets and showers were okay, but very narrow. Their walls were broken, and the drains were very dirty.

For a few nights on a budget, this worked well for my family and me. Our room faced a road junction, but it was generally quiet and the air conditioning kept it cool. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of places to eat nearby: the hotel has a restaurant downstairs, another is across the street, and there's also a 7-Eleven across the way. I don't think 7-Eleven is as prominent in Malaysia as it is in Thailand. The bathrooms were decently clean, though you might want to bring your own toiletries. WiFi was acceptable but unreliable sometimes.
