George Town needs more than a day and a half to see properly. We’d happily come back here the next time we visit Malaysia. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated, and the staff were so kind and attentive. There’s a tea ceremony with tasty local sweets, and when we were out exploring, the staff kept the food for us until we returned. The location is handy, among lively streets full of restaurants, cafés, and shops. Even though our room was on the ground floor, we barely heard anything from outside. We’ve been travelling for a month straight, and this was easily our best accommodation. It was a wonderful experience. If I could give one place six stars a year, this would be it.

The lobby is lovely, and our room was clean and comfortable. The body wash in our room smelled a bit off, and the bathroom felt unnecessarily large, but heritage B&Bs can have their quirks. After we checked out, the woman at the desk gave us little charms, which was such a sweet gesture. The location is excellent and the staff were very kind and friendly. A solid, reliable choice in the heart of Georgetown.

The room was spotless and spacious, and we loved looking at the decor in the hallways. The Peranakan theme is stunning, but the hospitality made the stay especially memorable. The two ladies at reception recommended their favourite local eats and even made sure we didn’t miss the afternoon tea snacks while we were out. Our family of four, including two young kids, had a stay that felt a lot like being at home. We can’t wait to come back!

The shower area could be designed better, though it works, and there isn’t much natural light in the room. Parking can be tricky since there’s no designated spot. The hotel is close to the streets, so it could be noisy. Our stay was okay, but we could hear the call to prayers. There are some stairs, which is worth considering if you’re travelling with elderly people. We’ve stayed in high-rise hotels on our past few visits to Penang and wanted a change this time. It took me a while to find this place, but I’m glad I did. The room fit three adults comfortably, had two toilets but just one shower, and a small “rooftop balcony.” The decor was lovely, and the room was clean, not dusty. The staff were very friendly, like you’d expect at a proper Bed & Breakfast, not Airbnb. Bookings of at least two nights include a lovely complimentary high tea. The location is amazing, within walking distance of Hema Hema, Ah Boy Kuey Teow Th'ng, and Teksen.

After talking with the staff, I could tell they work hard and are genuinely doing their best to give customers a good experience. Their attention to detail is immaculate. I think it’s hard to find another similar boutique hotel at the same level as LINN hotel.
