Royale Chulan Penang

Housekeeping kept our room fresh, tidy and clean every day, and everyone we met was friendly and greeted us warmly. Breakfast had lots of choices and tasted good. Mr. Selva at the pool deserves special thanks. He saw my child playing alone, brought him a ball and switched on the jacuzzi for him. It was such a thoughtful thing to do. We spent 4 days 3 nights at Royale Chulan Penang. It was our first stay there, though our third trip to Penang, and we wish we’d found the hotel sooner. We’ll definitely return.

My daughter had come in from Dhaka at 4-5am, then flew with me to Penang that same day after her extra day off. I’d taken the almost 10 am flight from KLIA on Friday morning as a treat from her. At check-in at Royale Chulan, I explained to the Indian receptionist, whose name I’m sorry I can’t remember, that I knew standard check-in was 3pm. Since my daughter had arrived from overseas at 4am, I asked if an earlier room might be possible. Close to 1pm, I got a call saying our room was ready. We were delighted, and she got some sleep that afternoon. The breakfast spread was generous. The auto latte and cappuccino machine was impressive, though the drinks would have been great if the water were hotter. From the front office to security, staff greeted us with smiles whenever we came through the main lobby. Thank you, Royale Chulan, for a lovely short break in Penang. I’m grateful to the management and team for the service and hospitality.

At Level 3, the room service team were prompt and excellent whenever we needed help. Everyone was welcoming and attentive, and we felt very comfortable. We had a lovely stay at Royale Chulan Penang. Mr. Selva, the pool attendant, was especially friendly and helpful. He provided floats for us, which made our pool time even more fun. Thank you for the warm hospitality!

The hotel’s surroundings were a real highlight for me, with vintage govt buildings and banks with lovely architecture. It’s easy to walk to the Esplanade and Peranakan Mansion, and it’s near mini markets, cafes and a bus stop. The room was quiet and clean, with a comfy bed and refillable filtered water. Breakfast was excellent and had local options. There’s also a food court nearby with the famous banana leaf nasi lemak if you want other choices. Recommended, and good value for money.
