Charisma Hotel Kuantan

The second room downstairs was bearable, but its aircon kept making enough noise to wake me every couple of hours. I had to switch rooms because the aircon and TV in the room upstairs weren’t working. It’s an old place, and you’ll need to bring your own towel. The location near Lotus, McD, and KFC is good, but that’s about all it has going for it. The hotel down the road seems like a better deal.

There are lots of places to eat nearby, and the price is very reasonable. The hotel is fairly new and spotlessly clean, and the girl at check-in spoke good English. It’s also just a 7R Grab ride from the bus station. It deserves a higher rating.

The sheets were covered in yellow patches, and the room smelled bad. It was also so cramped that there barely seemed to be space for two people, even though it had a king bed. I’d booked a different room through agoda for my mom and me, coming from KL to Kuantan for a family event and one night’s stay. I showed reception what I’d booked and complained, but they only said sorry and told me every room was full, so I had to stay there. The service was awful. I only used the room to get ready for the event, then checked out that night. A waste of money. Don’t trust the other reviews, I made that same mistake.

The bed was okay, and the water pressure was great. I had a small, windowless room with a queen bed. There was an odor in the room, the toilet drain was clogged, and the walkway smelled of cigarettes throughout. It’s fine if you’re just stopping over for one night to sleep and leave, but the cigarette smell needs a lot of work.
