Beijing Boutique Hotel Room

For a one-night stay, the price makes it pretty decent. The deluxe family room is spacious, while the rest of the place feels weathered. It opened in 2012 and definitely shows its age. The central location works well if you know Ipoh. Everything you should know about is within walking distance.

The bedding was filthy, with black, map-like stains on the pillows and sheets, and the wallpaper was badly torn. Water was leaking all over the room. I booked through agoda, but the listing photos looked completely different from the actual room. Please don't be fooled. I had to find another hotel. Absolutely the worst experience.

The air conditioner smelled strongly of cigarettes, which was unpleasant. The property faces a busy main road, so traffic noise carries through the night, and the soundproofing is poor. The amenities are very old and haven't been properly maintained.

I feel sorry for my elderly parents having to deal with this during a trip to a family friend's wedding. I booked the stay for them and my younger sister, and my sister said the hotel was in terrible shape as soon as they arrived. There were no towels, the bathroom light didn't work, and they had to ask staff just to use an iron. The staff were friendly and helpful, which I appreciate, but the basic facilities still need attention. It's a budget hotel, like other OYO properties, but the low price doesn't excuse overlooking essentials. I've booked or stayed at other affordable OYO hotels that had better little conveniences and more generous service. Please improve the maintenance and provide the basics. Guests should be able to stay comfortably even on a budget.
