Hotel Suria 18

I was in town for a family wedding in May 2025. Ipoh is my hometown, so I’m somewhat familiar with this hotel. I asked for the quadruple/family room before check-in and got the same one. It had a window and was big enough for four adults. My parents were comfortable too, and there’s a lift. The room and toilet were clean and well maintained. The receptionist lady was helpful and easy to ask questions. Toiletries, towels, and cloth hooks were provided, but there was no fridge. The aircon took a while to cool the room, though there was a ceiling fan to use too. I was comfortable here, and so was my family. Mcd, Aeon, and Lotus are nearby, and it’s easy to find food for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I booked through agoda, and they replied almost immediately when I messaged them there.

The staff were friendly and helped with simple requests like an iron and ironing board. There’s parking at the hotel and a water dispenser on every floor. The room was clean for a three-star place, with towels, soap, a water heater that wasn’t working in my room, AC, a fan, and a small balcony. Rates were reasonable. It’s between Batu Gajah and Ipoh, though a little tucked away, and the older building could use some touch-ups.

The room looked nice and had a balcony, and the location was good. But the water pressure was weak, and reception could only take cash because their device was broken with no backup. In the rain, I had to drive to the nearest bank to withdraw money. That wasn’t convenient at all.

There’s plenty of parking, and the price is affordable. Just watch for the entrance road, which is easy to miss, so using the back entrance is advised. I noticed a dirty spot on the bed cover, which made me wonder if it had been reused. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but lots of shops are nearby.
