Ipoh Malaysia Homestay at Panorama

I paid rm178 per night for a one-night stay in a basic D-type room for 2pax. The view made up for the room, and for the price it was alright overall, but I’d rate it 3/5 because the toilet was clogged and the room wasn’t soundproof at all. I also found the bathroom’s dark-looking colors and dim orange bulb made it seem small, and that lighting didn’t help with my myopia. The room itself was okay, with a fridge, TV, clothes racks and hanger, mineral water, and a coffee cup. There’s a restaurant within the premise, owned by the same Chalet owner but run by a third party, just a 1 min walk from the room. There are 2 pools, but it feels a bit funny to swim when the restaurant faces the pool. I didn’t take any pictures.

I was there for one night to deliver training at an event hosted on the property. We stayed in room P, the suite with terrace and jacuzzi, right next to reception. It was very spacious, with a comfortable bed and very quiet air conditioning. The bathroom was mind-blowing, though I didn’t dare use so much water in the jacuzzi. The terrace wasn’t much, and getting up there was a bit tricky. I didn’t use the pool, but my partner did. There are 2, though one was closed for maintenance. The open one was a good size for swimming a few laps, and the water had a strong chlorine content. Agoda listed the room at 384RM, but I wouldn’t pay that much.

We went for a birthday party with catered McD food. The place was hard to reach using GPS, but looked cool, with lots of fauna and a limestone hill in the background. The pools looked clean. I didn’t try the restaurant or room. After seeing room reviews, I may not try staying there.

The gate situation and the host’s replies made an already frustrating stay worse. It shut at midnight with no warning, and if you arrive later you have to open it yourself. There wasn’t a security guard. When we asked about the gate and the broken flush, the answers were vague and unhelpful. We were even told to use an outside toilet. The flush in our accommodation didn’t work, and the host wasn’t prompt or helpful when we asked for assistance. For a one-day stay, that was a real inconvenience and left us wondering about the property’s upkeep. The surroundings at EFM Green Ipoh were beautiful, but they couldn’t make up for the lack of basic facilities and poor handling of our concerns. This was our worst stay so far, and we regret booking it. We can’t recommend EFM Green Ipoh, and hope management addresses these problems.
