I ended up finding this place on foot after my reserved hotel was closed when I arrived. Luckily, the reception here is staffed 24 hours and they took me as a walk-in. I paid RM73 for the night, including RM10 tourist tax, and left a RM30 deposit. The room and bathroom were clean, and the air conditioning was so cold I turned it off in the middle of the night. The location worked really well: tourist spots are walkable, the train station is about eight minutes away on foot, and there are groceries, a petrol station, and a gold shop nearby. I’d stay here again. Thank you!

The bathroom was the worst part for me. The tile gaps aren’t grouted, so water gets underneath and brings up old dirt. After showering I didn’t feel clean, and had to wash my feet again. It’s handy being near the station, and the windows get enough sun to dry clothes. I noticed a few bugs, fewer than five, which I could put up with. At night I also heard rustling above the ceiling and wondered if there might be rats. The AC filter had visible dust, and the air blows right at my face, so it badly needs cleaning. Wi-Fi was unreliable, especially on a laptop. If you need to use one, you’ll probably have to use your phone’s hotspot.
This is a basic amenities hotel, with cost cutting apparent in what’s provided. The bathroom had just one towel and liquid soap, and the TV carried Malay channels but no English ones. It could suit Indian tourists, since there’s an Indian market and food places nearby.
I was stuck with a three-day booking, and it was awful. Both beds were so dirty I didn’t want to lie down. The linens had lots of hair, brown marks on parts of the sheets and blanket, and felt itchy. We asked for replacements, but were told they were in the laundry. The toilet was dirty and the flush was weak. Water pressure was so low that washing long hair was a disaster. I’d never recommend this place.
The online room photos looked so good, but staying there was a nightmare. The pillows were extremely flat, and I couldn’t sleep in peace. They felt like ordinary market pillows, not hotel quality, and I wondered if the boss couldn’t afford to replace them. This place says it’s a two-star hotel, but to me it doesn’t deserve any stars. They also promised a kettle, but there’s still been no response, and we’re about to check out. Otherwise, it was OK.
