The lobby has a neat little corner bar, and I liked the flower painting on the wall. I booked one night online for a family trip because the black vintage look appealed to me. When we arrived, a friendly Malay lady at the desk explained the parking and how to get to Aeon Falim in surprisingly good English. My parents and I aren't familiar with Ipoh, so that helped. The room felt cosy and the bed was comfortable. The shower door handle seemed broken, though that wasn't a major issue. The water pressure was the bigger problem: turning it either way made no difference, and it stayed really strong. I had food poisoning, so using it several times while in pain was pretty traumatic. The aircon was freezing, and there was a loud dragging sound from the ceiling for a while. The TV could use more good movies, but otherwise things were fine.

I offered to pay the difference to move my booking, since I still intended to stay, but the hotel wouldn't consider it. I honestly think the room would have been empty that night, yet they kept the payment rather than show even a little goodwill. It feels like an attitude problem more than a policy issue. I booked through Agoda the night before, for the coming weekend. The app refreshed and switched the date to that day, and the payment went through. I caught the error in under a minute and contacted both Agoda and the hotel straight away. Agoda tried to mediate, but the hotel insisted I either send a friend to stay that night or travel there myself, which I couldn't do. The staff spoke fast and showed no empathy or understanding. I've travelled across many continents and countries, and this was my first experience this disappointing. I felt there was no care for customers or service mindset. Take the money as a donation, because I won't set foot there. Avoid the hotel, and I hope businesses with this approach don't survive in the long run.

We booked the wrong date and called to ask if the stay could be moved to the date we wanted. They refused to change it and wouldn't refund us, putting all the blame on Agoda. Agoda tried hard to help by calling and emailing the hotel, but got the same answer. Choosing this place was a bad decision. Avoid it.

Because the booking was already paid through Agoda, I tried negotiating again after returning from the mall. They then let us check in, but still wanted to know exactly when I'd bring the cash deposit, as though I meant to avoid paying. My wife and I had arrived around 5pm, and the room was fully paid. The trouble started with a RM100 deposit that had to be paid in cash. I rarely carry that much cash in 2025, so after a long drive from Kuala Lumpur I politely asked to check in first, rest, and withdraw it later. The male staff member said firmly that the SOP meant no check-in without the cash and suggested I go to a nearby mall to get it. I left our luggage in the lobby and went, but parking problems and an appointment that evening meant I was short on time. I came back frustrated and even thought about switching hotels. The whole check-in was disappointing. The rigid deposit rule and the staff's lack of warmth, empathy, and flexibility don't feel like hospitality, where guest comfort should come first. I hope management reviews the policy and trains staff to respond with more courtesy and professionalism.

We checked into a family room for three at 2.30pm, after being asked to pay another RM100 because of a reservation error. The aircon wasn't working, and it was still broken at 7pm. While we were at a family event, the hotel told us halfway through to move elsewhere because they couldn't fix it. The replacement hotel only gave us a twin-sharing room, with no extra bed for the third person. Really poor service. I won't come back.
