T Square Hotel (Ipoh)

A quiet, simple, clean place, and having a lift makes it really convenient. I’ve stayed here repeatedly.

It’s a fairly new hotel set back from the main road, so nights are quiet. Sound carries easily between rooms, though, so light sleepers may prefer somewhere else. The family room had plenty of space, and the water pressure was good, even if the shower head was a bit damaged. There’s lots of free parking and security at night, and the staff were very friendly. The small European-style lift is handy with luggage or for older people. There aren’t many nearby restaurants for Muslims, but a five-minute drive gets you to a mamak stall, Starbucks, Pizza, and KFC, so it’s manageable for a night.

The pillow was super comfortable, but the mattress felt poor quality, and the service seemed a bit pricey for what you get. There wasn’t a hair dryer in the room, the ironing board was out in the hallway, and the TV only had free-to-air channels, with no proper entertainment options.

The shower was excellent, with superb water pressure, and RM75 net for a queen room is still decent value. The room had a smell like a university hostel, maybe mould, dust, or humidity, I couldn’t tell. I also spotted and squashed one bed bug. If I wake up bitten, this review will lose plenty of stars. Service was standard and present, nothing much to say. The room was acceptable, though a little disappointing in places.
