Rose Cottage Hotel Eco Botanic

There was no shower soap, and the TV was useless. The service was helpless, too. When I called to book, the receptionist said there were plenty of rooms and told me to come in and check in. Half an hour later, when I arrived, he said there were none, so I decided to look for another hotel. At the same time, my wife, not knowing I was already outside, called the same place to book. She was told the same thing and asked to come in. When she went to the receptionist, they gave her a room. Is this gender favoritism?

The mattress was good, and the room size was okay. The towel smelled a bit, though. Good location, with convenience stores and places to eat and drink within walking distance.

I only stayed one night, but woke up with painful, itchy red spots on my legs. It seems the bed may not have been clean, or there may have been bugs. That’s completely unacceptable for a hotel. Please take care of the hygiene and bedding. Guests deserve better.

We arrived at 11pm on a long weekend before Deepavali and checked in as walk-ins. The next morning, we were surprised to find lots of eateries nearby. The location is very convenient, next to a gated bungalow neighbourhood, with University of Reading just around the corner and Legoland a short drive away. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again for the location. The room is clean and the neighbourhood is nice, but it’s small, and you shouldn’t expect much from a hotel.
