Vanavasa Resort

We drove around to look at other resorts in Janda Baik, and VanaVasa is probably one of the best. The staff service was amazing, from the gracious receptionists to the accommodating restaurant team, especially Siva, and the friendly golf cart drivers who took us up and down the steep slopes to our Champaka Chalet. The climate is cool enough that you'll want a light sweater in the morning and evening. The chalets could use better maintenance and furnishings. We were surprised there was no tissue paper provided, which is a major downside for the prices charged.

We didn't have to go looking for food because three meals were included: dinner on our first day, then breakfast and lunch on the second. Staff from registration through the dining area were friendly and handled our requests quickly, including changing rooms. We spent one night surrounded by nature, with a breathtaking view inside and outside the chalet that helped us forget the busy city we'd come from. Thick fog, a cool breeze, and shy rays of sunlight made for a cosy, calming arrival, and we embraced the moment that brought us here. The one drawback for me was that buggy service only runs until 9 pm. I wonder what would happen if there were an emergency late at night, such as someone being unable to walk or fainting, and we needed to get down to the car. Still, it was a memorable and delightful stay.

Beautiful place, but not the kind of resort I'd expect for rm1500/night. There were lots of bugs in the bedroom, and with no aircon it was really hot at night. When I asked for a towel at the pool, the server said the towel in the dryer would take time.

The weather was amazing, fresh and chilly, and the resort is a great place for my family and me to get away from the city and be surrounded by nature. The service was great too. Before we arrived, the admin contacted us to confirm our arrival time and which activities we wanted to book. Food was taken care of, though it tasted a little salty, and that was better than having no food at all. Bring some games or activities to keep busy, since there's only a pool table at the resort.
