Orna Golf and Country Club

The setting looked good for a wedding reception, with an open area by the swimming pool and extra decorations. There was enough room to host 200 to 250 people, and parking was adequate. Food stalls can be set up near the seating area. I went there for a reception. The space was a little humid since it wasn't air-conditioned, and the decorations need to be tailored to what each client wants. Still, it's a nice venue for a wedding or reception.

This is about the golf course. I visited on 12JUNE 24. The reception staff were friendly, and there was a small refundable deposit for lockers and towels. The lobby and locker room were basic, though the shower was decent and had strong water pressure. There weren't many mozzies around, which was interesting. The course conditions were the problem. The fairways were in poor shape, the bunkers were more like waste bunkers, and weeds had left the greens in bad condition. My caddie, AYU, was lazy and unresponsive. It's a challenging course, and could be interesting if the rest were in good shape, but I didn't find it welcoming enough to return. It also wasn't cheap: this cost 150rm, while Ponderosa in JB is only 90rm and was much better in every way.

We teed off at 1pm on a weekday and had the course to ourselves. It was a bit windy, which made the round more challenging. For the price, it's a great course and a good place to learn course management. Definitely worth the money.

The early bird deal let us play 18h for Rm77 if we arrived before 10.30am on a weekday. You can't expect a well-kept course at that price, and the course has clearly seen better days. Hopefully it improves. The tee boxes were so hard I could barely get a tee in, and the bunkers felt like concrete. One upside of the hard fairways is that the ball bounces farther, so hopefully it ends up ahead. My average drive was up 10-20%!
