Sy Jerantut Hotel

We found lizard droppings by the window corners, above the headboard, and even in the bathroom. After we told the staff at the counter, they were really helpful: they cleaned the room and replaced the bedsheets and pillow covers, and it felt much better afterward. The room was cozy and fairly spacious for the price. We also noticed the deadbolt was broken, which they may want to repair for security. The service was great, and I hope they address the lizard issue.

Good value, with parking and a clean bed. The AC was pretty weak, though, and I wouldn't stay here without transportation.

We'd found it a bit difficult to get a good hotel in remote areas, since homestays seem to be the preferred choice in Malaysia. So this one was a really pleasant surprise. It was the only hotel during our 12-day trip in a remote area that was actually good.

I won't stay here on my next business visit. The room was dark, one ceiling bulb was broken and hadn't been replaced, and the four colored walls made it feel like a PRISON. The building's paint job was poor too, and the dark, scary feel made walking around unpleasant. There were large gaps around the aluminium window frames, so the window panel wouldn't shut tight. Lizards came in and out at night, leaving droppings all over the curtains. There were also spider webs and white mildew covering one wall. Housekeeping left the previous tenant's toilet roll instead of replacing it. There was no hot shower, and the sink tap was broken, so I had to use the bidet tap to brush my teeth. No electric kettle was provided either, so hot water meant going to the dispenser on the 1st floor. There was no writing desk, just one wardrobe with 3 hangers. For over rm90 per night, management only provided 2 small bottles of cheap RO water and no other refreshments. The wall-mounted TV kept showing no signal, though I could get it back by switching it off and on. I wondered if it was just there for display. On top of all that, the deluxe queen bed room wasn't very deluxe, especially at rm93 per night. The list could go on.
