Jomi Homestay

I arrived at night with a room booked in advance, but the owner said it had been given to someone else and there was no room left. It felt like they were overselling rooms and beds to make money. He wouldn’t let me stay in the yard while I searched online for another place and hurried me away, so I ended up wandering the street at night with my backpack. The location is terrible, nowhere close to anything. That was their service. Book here if you want to end up in my situation.

I was able to extend my stay by one night at the last minute because Gan arranged something for me. He’s a really good host and helps however he can. My time at memory guesthouse was better than I expected, and I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re ever in JB.

After a month of travelling around Malaysia, this was one of the best hostels I stayed at. For the price, it was the best.

We spent two days here, and Gan was so friendly to me and my friend. The guesthouse was clean and relaxing, with lights outside your door showing which bathrooms were in use. It’s super affordable, but the experience was amazing. Depending on how you book, you can even avoid the tourist Malaysian tax, which is great. There’s laundry, a kitchen, and a refrigerator. When we went to Singapore 🇸🇬, the owner let us leave our luggage overnight, and they let me shower before my 5 am bus at no extra charge. They really feel like friends here. I wish there’d been more to do so I could have stayed longer. Lots of cheap restaurants nearby, and Gan is helpful with anything about Malaysia or Singapore. 10/10 recommend.
