OYO 653 Green World Hotel

I checked out straight away because the place was so uncomfortable and poorly maintained, but there were no refunds. That felt like a scam aimed at travellers and tourists. The problems were everywhere: broken air conditioners in the lobby and poorly maintained ones in every room, TVs with few channels, loose bathroom doorknobs, and only one cheap yellow bulb per room. Furniture was dusty and covered in fungus. The sheets and blankets had cigarette burns. The water heaters and exhaust fans were broken, and a toilet seat even fell off. The receptionist was lazy, and the cleaning and maintenance were poor. I wouldn’t have been surprised to find ants in the furniture, cockroaches in the bathroom or rats in the ceiling instead of actual guests. I regret staying here because of the lazy receptionist and very poor service.

During our stay from 30/6/2022 to 2/7/2022, we had trouble with the doors and bathroom. The bathroom door lock was broken, and the room door wouldn’t lock either, so we had to ask hotel staff to open it each time. The toilet flush was so slow we had to flush several times before leaving. Other basics were missing or in poor shape. We didn’t get towels until the first night because the hotel had no clean ones, and they were late, thin, torn and in very bad condition. There was no drinking water or praying mat (sejadah). A kettle was supplied, but no cup, glass or 3-in-1 tea or coffee. The iron overheated, wasn’t non-stick and spoiled my headcover. The TV didn’t work from day one through day three, with no sign anyone tried to fix it, and there was no remote. The drawer still had rubbish from the previous guest, and the staff weren’t friendly. The toilet towel was also only provided at night on day one.

The room was nice, though the rate felt quite expensive for me.

The walls are thin, so you can hear people talking or walking outside your room. Staff are friendly. All the rooms are upstairs and you have to use the elevator. Rooms use access cards, but the card or scanner had a problem in the one I stayed in before, so the receptionist opened it with a key. You can borrow an iron from reception, then return it after an hour or two. The hotel is near KUIS, about a 30-minute walk. There’s also a van to and from KUIS that charges RM1-3.
