Santika

The Kakang House has a warm, cozy feel, almost like staying with family in a village. It isn't a fancy hotel, and that suited us. We loved the peaceful kampung atmosphere and greenery, with fresh air, river sounds, and birds instead of city traffic. The food was a highlight, especially the Daging salai masak lemak. During breakfast, someone played beautiful angklung music, which made the morning feel special and authentic. We could use the pool, wander around the property, and walk down to the fish pond. It made for a relaxing stay with a bit to explore, and we’re already planning to return.

We were a group of 27, with 15 adults and 12 kids, and had a fabulous time. The fish pond kept the older children busy and excited. The property has a Kampung setting, and we found every unit very clean and well kept. It was ideal for a short retreat. Meals were generous, with a sumptuous breakfast, and the owner was responsive and accommodating.

Nazira, the caretaker, was very helpful and friendly. The package included unlimited dinner and breakfast, with lots of delicious traditional dishes. We stayed one night on 20th July 2024 and had a great time. The Kakang unit was spacious and fully equipped, with a kitchen and big fridge, plus a BBQ set available on request. There was also a large hall and garden, ideal for a short family gathering and activities. It would be a perfect vacation for us if the pool and small river were better maintained. We’ll definitely come back for a second visit.

We rented the whole house for six people at RM 1000 for 2 nights. It has three large rooms and a squeaky clean interior, with a lovely natural setting and delicious authentic Malay breakfast. It works well for intimate group training, families, couples, or other groups, and Gabang Falls is a drive away. The toilets need upgrading. There are no heaters, so you have to boil water on the stove. There’s plenty of local Malay food at night, but choices are limited during the day.
