Mama Motel

This was my third stay here. The place is near town, and my family had a big, spacious room that was clean and nice, at an affordable price. I’d definitely recommend it.

We paid RM61 a night through Agoda, and the stay exceeded what I expected. The building looks out over a beautiful paddy field, a picturesque view that’s great for Instagram. The motel is also well placed for restaurants and sundry shops or convenience stores, reachable on foot or by Grab or Maxim. There’s a laundry bar right downstairs, and GrabFood delivery works well here too. The owner was really accommodating. My mother and I had travelled a long way from Terengganu and had nowhere to go before check-in, so he let us in around 10 am to a buffer room, then moved us to the room we’d actually booked. That room was nice and had plenty of amenities, cold AC, good lighting, and a water heater for a warm shower.

The family room was fairly large for four people, but the air conditioner didn’t cool. The shared walkway also looked untidy. The motel is above the dobby.

This is definitely a budget motel. There’s no breakfast or lunch, but they leave utensils, Maggi noodles, bread, and jam in a pantry so you can serve yourself. I had a room with one queen bed. It was all OK by motel standards, with working AC and a toilet, and enough outlets to charge my phone and use my laptop. The problem was the shower: the water was freezing, with no hot water in my room. I don’t know if other rooms have hot water.
