Hotel de Art @ i-City

The lounge was tidy and clean, and checking out was quick and smooth. The location was also good for getting to the main attractions. The price is low, but I think paying around RM50-60 more could get you a better hotel, like Wyndham near i-City. Checking in was a hassle. Agoda didn’t mention the RM20 cash deposit, and we expected RM50-RM100 like at many budget hotels. They wouldn’t take a cashless payment for it and couldn’t give change for our RM50. With no nearby shops open, I had to go all the way to i-City to withdraw cash, delaying check-in by nearly an hour. Bring an RM20 note or you might face the same delay. The room didn’t match the listing very well. The walls were chipped, it felt cramped, and there wasn’t enough room to pray comfortably. The mirror shown in Agoda’s pictures wasn’t there, only one in the bathroom. We got just two thin pillows and had to use towels to make them comfortable. The water pressure was weak, especially at the toilet hand bidet, and there was no toothbrush, so bring your own. When we first walked in, it smelled damp and musty, and we sprayed perfume to make it feel okay.

We left after just one night because the stay was disappointing. Check-in took unusually long, and the staff didn’t greet us warmly, which made a poor first impression. The room smelled uncomfortable when we entered, and it wasn’t set up or in the condition shown in the online pictures. It felt misleading, so I hope the hotel updates its listings to match the actual rooms. Only small 250ml bottles of water were provided, which wasn’t enough for a family. The water heater had very weak flow, making a comfortable shower difficult. I hope management takes this seriously and improves the service and facilities for guests. Thank you.

The room had a smell like urine and mold that made it hard to breathe, and I couldn’t sleep. The heater also didn’t work. We asked to change rooms and the staff helped, but the second room smelled the same, even worse. We’d travelled all the way from Johor, so we had to stay until morning. I’d paid for two nights, but checked out the next day because it was our worst experience. I’m definitely not coming back. I’d rather die than stay here again!

The staff were so kind and helpful, and I was very happy staying here during my convocation. They provide lots of facilities, like Cuckoo, a microwave, a surau, and a lift.
