I booked two nights through trip.com and paid the tourist tax in the app, but the hotel staff kept asking me for a receipt with my name on it. I felt they should have checked with trip.com instead of putting that on me. The whole booking process was a mess, and it couldn’t be amended afterward. The drawer was dirty, the TV remote wouldn’t turn the TV on, and the shower head was broken. There was no kettle, 3-in-1 coffee, bottled water, shampoo, or shower gel, though a water filter was available. I couldn’t tell whether its filter was changed. Noise came through clearly, and I could hear staff talking.

It felt stuck in the 1980s. There was no tissue, water, or fridge, and the air conditioner seemed older than I am. Just awful.

Poor staff service. We had to pay a penalty over just one piece of garbage. Smoking isn’t allowed.

We got to Kulai at 1:00 am after I decided that evening to travel from KL at 9:00 pm. I hadn’t planned the trip, so I called to reserve a room on the way. Booking or Agoda might have been cheaper, but I was worried I wouldn’t have time to book online. The Malay receptionist explained everything helpfully over the phone, and check-in was smooth. The place was easy to find near Lotus. The room was basic but okay, with no kettle or 3-in-1 drinks, so you need to get water from the dispenser outside if you’re thirsty. It was a pleasant stay, and the staff were helpful.

It was hard to sleep with all the noise, including lizards, karaoke, and chairs being moved. There were many foreign workers around, and the view from the hotel window looked messy. The TV wouldn’t turn on, and they didn’t provide hand tissues, mineral water, a laundry bag, or slippers.
