Sera Sentosa Inn

The rice-field view is lovely, and the hotel is handy if you’re traveling near the Malaysia–Thailand border. It’s cozy and clean. Some rooms, like the deluxe triple, don’t have windows, but that wasn’t a problem for me because they were comfortable. There’s a tea set in the room, plus hot and cold drinking water in the lobby.

15th Sept 2024. I paid RM340 including tax through Agoda for a so-called presidential suite after most Alor Setar hotels were booked for the long weekend. I checked in at 6pm, hoping to rest after traveling to Perlis, but the room was a huge disappointment. Bugs kept flying around, then ended up all over the bedsheet, so I couldn’t get comfortable or sleep properly. The double bed only fits two adults, and the extra bed I asked for because I had my 2yrs old son with me wasn’t provided. The air-conditioning stayed fixed at 25 degree Celcius even with a remote, and the old water heater had low pressure and no pump, making it hard to shower. The room was very small for a suite. There was no Astro, wifi, mineral water, or foodpanda Serv.

I checked in at 5pm on 14th Sept 2024 while traveling to Pendang for work, after the long weekend left almost all hotels in Alor Setar fully booked. I booked through Agoda and expected to get some rest, but the room was in such poor condition that I checked out at 10pm. Bugs were flying around and eventually covered the whole bedsheet. I couldn’t relax with them in the room. The air-conditioning wouldn’t move from 25 degree Celcius despite the remote, and the old water heater had weak pressure and no pump, so showering properly was difficult. For RM340 inclusive tax, the so-called presidential suite felt more like a budget motel room or worse. This check-in was a nightmare.
