The Room @ Anjung Vista Condominium

The room was dusty, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the floors hadn't been cleaned properly. There was even a cigarette butt on the kitchen floor. The parking area was full of rubbish, the pool wasn't working, and there were almost no amenities or drinking water in the room. The tap water sometimes turns brownish. I think management has let the hotel go since the last review. I even came back with a respiratory infection. Don't stay here unless you can't find a room anywhere else.

The location is handy, with USM close by, McDonald's across the road, a nice coffee shop next door where you can sit and work, and a dobi just across the street for laundry. But the rooms were really dusty, even though they're small. My friend and I ended up taking the bedsheets to the dobi ourselves. There was also confusion over assigned parking between homestay guests and residents, which should be sorted out so it doesn't bother the people who live there. The cat was cute, though.

I was satisfied with my trip here, and the price is fairly cheap for an apartment with a pool compared with other places in Kota Bharu. Its location near HUSM Kubang Kerian is a big plus, with McDonald's Kubang Kerian opposite and KFC Kubang Kerian nearby, though traffic in this fast-growing area is likely to be congested most of the time. The pool is small, but fine for entertaining children: the adult section is 1 meter deep and the children's section is 0.3 meter deep. Parking is multi-storey, though the spaces and driving aisle are so tight that you need to be careful. The elevator buttons can be hard to activate and sometimes need several pushes.

Avoid this place. The studio apartments are nicely designed, and the service apartment idea in the heart of kubang kerian sounds good, but maintenance and cleanliness are both poor. The corridors and pools are dirty. Driving a 7 seater SUV around the parking spaces without scraping your bumper is a challenge.
