D' Borneo Hotel

The room was spacious and the staff friendly and very helpful. I booked because the hotel is near anjung kinabalu the Philippines market. There’s no lift to the upper floors, so you have to use the stairs. I was travelling with my 64-year-old aunt, who has trouble climbing them. We were given a room on the second floor, but they moved us to the first almost straight away when I asked. It isn't elderly or wheelchair friendly. Still, it was a good, comfortable stay, and I'd stay again if I came with friends.

The room was clean and spacious. I had an ensuite queen room and asked for an extra mattress, which worked perfectly for a group of three or four. It’s a really good affordable hotel for trips with friends or family, close to both the Philippine market and a bank. I enjoyed my time there with my friends and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Kota Kinabalu.

For a short stay, the room gives you plenty for the price, and the location is hard to beat, with easy access to the Waterfront and nearby places to eat. The WiFi kept cutting out even after the front desk reset the modem, which was frustrating. I also spent a while tracking down a bad smell, and eventually found milk left in the bag fridge by a previous guest. Even so, I'd come back and hope for better luck next time.

I was here for meetings, and the manager and staff were courteous. The rooms were clean, and for a basic hotel it covered what I needed. There are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, a large mall just minutes away, and LeMeridien Hotel, where my meeting was, was a three-minute walk.
