Hotel DeLeeton

What made this stay workable was the location and the basics in the room. Restaurants, malls, food stalls, convenience shops and massage parlors are all nearby, and the air conditioning, water pressure, TV, bed, pillows and comforter were fine. There was a cabinet and a fridge too, though I didn't use the fridge because the power cuts when you take out the room key card. For the price, it’s a reasonable private room with your own CR. I arrived around 1 AM and wasn't impressed at first. The hotel looked old and gloomy, and the staff seemed less welcoming than people I'd met at other hotels. The room almost made me switch hotels: it felt depressing and clearly needs renovation. The shower head was in poor shape, the shower door was missing (the CR door was intact), the big windows couldn't be opened, and I saw cobwebs. The carpet had several iron burn marks, which seemed odd. By the next day, the place felt a bit different, though that may have been my mood. Housekeeping staff were especially kind, smiling and trying to chat as they assumed I was local, and they did their best in English. My door didn't close properly, so I had to remember to check it. Morning traffic can be noisy, so light sleepers should know that. Bring a universal adapter too. The outlets didn't fit all plugs; I hadn't brought one, but staff lent me one. There's no indoor smoking area, so smokers have to go outside. It was an okay four-day stay after that first day.

For a budget hotel, I found the room clean, the bed and pillows comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. The hot shower was fine too, and the Wi-Fi was fast. The location was a big plus for me. Deleeton Hotel has been operating in Kota Kinabalu for a long time, and it's close to Centre Point shopping mall and the night market at Asia City. The Philipino Market is also walkable if you're after souvenirs. I stayed only a short while, and didn't expect a lot at this price.

There are plenty of places to eat near the hotel, though breakfast isn't provided. It was also easy to get a Grab to the airport. The room was roomy but looked a little old-fashioned. The towel was thick and large, which I liked, and the shower was good.

The housekeeper was friendly, the room was fairly good and clean, and it was easy to find nearby restaurants. Wi-Fi was fast too. The towel was worn, and the pillow was flat and uncomfortable. I asked the receptionist for another pillow but wasn't helped. The toilet bidet holder was broken and left it hanging around. No sejadah was provided. I stayed for two days.
