Grand Eastern Hotel

There was plenty of parking, which is a real plus if you drive or rent a car. The hotel is also not far from the city centre, with a McDonald's nearby. The area felt pretty mid, mostly college students since there’s a college close by. I was very satisfied with the stay. The room was clean enough and air conditioned, with complimentary bottled water and the usual coffee and tea. The staff were friendly and helpful. My one real gripe was a leaking bathroom sink. It wasn’t a big problem and there was no smell, but it was uncomfortable knowing the space under it would stay wet. I’d definitely stay here again if I return to Sabah, K.K.

Our family's favourite hotel too. The location is okay, and the room is clean. The AC and water heater worked fine. They provide toiletries, including a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and shower cream, plus tea bags, instant coffee, creamer, and sugar in little packets. There's an electric kettle, and the smart TV can play YouTube, Netflix, and more. All good, a nice hotel 👍👍👍👍👍

The room was spacious, but they should replace the bedsheet covers. The toilet pump in our room didn’t work, and water dripped from the toilet hose, leaving the floor wet. They didn’t provide mineral water or tissues. Small bottles cost RM1 and large ones RM2, and small tissue packs were sold at the counter. The receptionist said we’d be better off buying water from them since there was none in the room. I didn’t like having to buy the mineral water.

The staff were friendly, the room was a decent size, and the bathroom was very good. It was clean and good value, with plenty of local parking for people driving and great deals through the OYO group. The WiFi was patchy in our corner room but lightning fast at reception. A self-serve tea and coffee station and an ice supply in the shared reception area would be nice for anyone wanting another cuppa or a cold drink in the evening.
