LKH Motel

The area had construction materials around and workers nearby, so it felt like a safety issue while work was still in progress. There wasn’t proper drainage around the unit either, and it flooded during heavy rain. We rented the homestay package for 7 people, but got only two small bottles of drinking water. There was aircon in just one room, none in the living or dining area, no TV channels or receiver, and no drinking water filter. At night, wild dogs, maybe, were wandering around.

We booked through trip.com for one night. The room was spacious, the aircon was enough, and the price was affordable. It was far from road noise, so we slept without interruption. The staff were very friendly too.

Getting there was confusing without GPS since it’s near a housing area. Thank God for Waze and Google Map. It’s a budget motel, about 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from KK city centre. I booked the cheapest option, a Queen Air Conditioning Room (Non-Smoking 🚭), through Agoda for MYR 80++. My room had a queen bed, TV, closet, hangers, air conditioner, ceiling fan, ironing board (I had to ask reception for an iron), small sofa, rectangular table with a room service menu, two complimentary bottles of mineral water, night lamp and curtained window. There were three plugs, but they weren’t universal, so bring an adapter. The bathroom had a toilet, heated shower, hair dryer, towel handle and sink, plus two small shampoo packs, two small soap bars and two bath towels. There was a little window near the top, but the bathroom door was dirty. The surroundings felt creepy, with unfinished buildings and the housing area close by. My room was near the fish pond, which made it feel even creepier. I was skeptical about staying alone, but managed. Breakfast wasn’t included, so my partner and I had to eat on our own before leaving. The staff looked unprofessional at first, but were actually professional and friendly. Agoda emailed me before the stay saying I hadn’t paid, even though I had. Instead of calling Agoda, because I know they’re sh**, I called reception at 10pm and she helped sort it out. The receptionist also remembered my name at check-in. My ratings: location, four stars; environment, two; room cleanliness, three. For other facilities, I gave the lobby, cafe, outside entrance and corridor one star each. I didn’t use the restroom, so I can’t rate it. They need to improve cleanliness and customer service.

This is the same place as Kota Kinabalu waterpark, DeBorneo. You can stay overnight with family for around RM100-145, but the motel aircon wasn’t in good condition. It felt like being in a sauna.
