Seaview Bliss Studio - Tropical Elegance

We stayed in Aug 2023, and I'd probably rate it 3.8. The location was a real plus: the night market is just steps away, with fresh seafood, vegetables, and fruit available into the early morning. KK waterfront, with bars and live music, is nearby, as is jesselton jetty for ferries to the islands. There are also several malls and places to eat, including welcome seafood. Our unit was clean, with a sea-facing balcony overlooking the market. It had a TV, cooking facilities, a large fridge, sofa, cabinet, and other basics. The slippers provided came in handy, and there was a bidet. Pots, a pan, plates, and utensils were there if you want to cook, but bring your own oil and condiments. Host CK was lovely: waiting at the driveway when we arrived, sharing nearby recommendations, replying quickly on Whatsapp, and letting us collect our luggage later after checkout. It's a good option if you don't want to pay for a high-end hotel, since the alternatives seemed like old, run-down hotels. The main drawback was the building, The Shore, which was still heavily under construction. The lobby and lifts were dusty, and the lifts could take a long time because they're shared by many floors and units. The pool water looked cloudy and dusty when I tried it, so I didn't stay, and half of the pool area was being worked on. There was also a bad smell from the bathroom drain, perhaps due to the unit or the construction. During a longer stay, it would have been nice to get fresh water bottles daily and have the option of clean towels. There was no chute, just a central trash bin on the floor. The property may be nicer once construction is finished, but the work going on made our stay less enjoyable.

The room and furniture had been newly renovated, so I had nothing to complain about. The host was friendly and quick to respond. I'd come back.

I wasn't expecting much for the price, but the place exceeded my expectations. Everything was new and clean, and I'd recommend it to friends.

I wouldn't stay here. Right after I booked, the host asked me to cancel, saying the room wasn't available. Fine, I did that. But then the host raised the price to three times the original and listed it again. Is that how you run a business?
