The caretaker did a good job keeping the place clean, and it's a quiet place to stay. I was fine with the decent-sized room and the lack of internet coverage, and the price was economical. Still, the owner should do major maintenance. The air conditioner makes a strange sound, the ceiling fans look like they could fall, and both the entrance and bathroom doors get stuck. Safety matters too.

I expected to see Sg Perak from the chalet, but the view is hidden. You'd have to trek through dense foliage to get a look. The shower was broken and the stairs felt shaky. It was bearable, but there's definitely room for improvement. Not for the faint-hearted.

I've stayed here twice. The second time I had a room built of concrete and cement, which was okay. On my first visit I checked in around midnight, and the road through the durian farm was dark, quiet, and a bit spooky, with no streetlights. That first room, Room 00, was wooden and not so good, though it had enough space. It's budget accommodation, so don't compare it with a five-star hotel. The place is quiet and private. The AC worked well, and there was a hot water kettle, cutlery, an iron, two plates, a mini fridge, and a water purifier, all working well. No towel or hot water heater was provided. Plan your stay. Recommended.

Getting there felt a little scary at first since the place is quite remote, but the building itself is rather nice, with what look like random recycled tiles. It's very cheap and could be a good stay if you don't mind a bit of kampung living. The chalet has five beds: a queen and four single beds in the attic. The attic is cramped, almost like a workers' quarters, so it may not suit you or your kids if tight spaces are a problem. The single beds are very thin kampung tilams, which won't be everyone's cup of tea. The stairs up to the attic could be cleaner. There wasn't rubbish or anything, just ordinary Malaysian stuff like cobwebs.

This is a small guesthouse for overnight stays in Kampung Semawar, Kuala Kangsar. The inside is cramped, and mobile and internet reception are very weak. There isn't enough lighting outside, which raises security concerns. I hope the owner can work with the telecom companies and TNB to improve those issues. The road in is narrow, and when another car comes the other way, it's hard and dangerous for both drivers to reverse or make room, especially at night. I hope the owner can ask the local authorities to widen it. Bring your own toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and slippers, as the guesthouse doesn't provide them. It does have a TV, shower towels, and shampoo.
