Chill Box KL

Parking was the main thing that changed my mind about this stay. When I called before booking, I was told the hotel had no parking, but there was an open-air lot for RM6 a day, a short walk away, or I could use Times Square mall. Once I arrived at night, the attendant at the RM6 lot said he only watched the cars until 9pm and that break-ins had happened after that. He didn’t want to be responsible, and told me to park at Times Square instead. After 7pm on weekdays, overnight parking there costs RM15, and on weekends it’s RM21.50. I parked on the roadside on Sunday and got a RM15 ticket, which was cheaper, though I don’t recommend doing that. If I’d known the open lot was only guarded until 9pm, I wouldn’t have booked here. I’d picked the Double Room because the Standard Queen listing said it had a shared bathroom. I couldn’t reach the hotel by phone despite several tries, so I checked Booking.com, where it said every room had its own bathroom, with screenshots. I’d originally called to ask about parking, and later also tried to get the KL landline through the Langkawi branch, but they only had the same mobile number listed on Google. The room was small, with a slightly hard bed and pillows too high for me, which made my neck ache. There were only two outlets, one for the fridge and one for the thermos, and the fridge outlet was broken. The shower pressure was good for the first few days, then weakened from the third day on. The air conditioning worked well and was cold. The sink was tiny. Our room wasn’t cleaned while we were out. I had to ask reception about it after we came back at night. We’d left at 8:50am for work, so we weren’t late leaving the room. There’s no lift, and we were on the third floor with two big suitcases. The receptionist kindly offered to help carry them. If you don’t drive, the parking issue may not matter. But I wouldn’t call Chill Box fantastic, and getting anyone to answer the phone was the worst part of arranging things.

The place was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly, but the internet connection was awful. I stayed for a few days and the network never improved, it just kept getting worse. I hated having to complain again, especially since nothing changed.

The staff were friendly, and it’s really easy to get to the main town area in KL. 👍🏻💯☺️
