Empire Suites @ Times Square

The stains on the walls looked like food and who knows what else had been splattered there. The sofa and chair were visibly dirty, and the sheets had large yellow marks. The mattress sagged, with springs poking through, so I ended up sleeping sideways along the foot of the bed, the only part that felt a little decent. This is the dirtiest, most rundown place I’ve ever booked. I felt cheated after trusting reviews on different platforms, and now I don’t know if I can trust reviews again. If I hadn’t prepaid, I would have run from this spooky mess. The chaos and discomfort kept me awake, and I’d tell people never to stay here.

The view was great, and the swimming pool is large. MD Obaidur Rahman, the hotel agent, was quick to respond and very helpful. We also appreciated getting to see the room before we paid. It wasn’t perfectly clean and the hotel feels a bit dated, but for the price it was excellent value.

The view is the one good thing, but the unit was so hot because the air conditioning barely worked anywhere. The master bedroom AC wasn’t working at all, and the staff were barely helpful. They seemed to know little beyond handing out keys and collecting deposits. Check-in meant a long wait, they didn’t answer the phone, and nobody offered to show us to the room. The master bedroom switches were broken, even the ones near the floor, and they wouldn’t replace the broken toilet hand jet. The bathtub walls were damaged, and the sofa set was torn with plaster slapped over it. We made it through one night somehow. I’d ask Agoda for compensation for listing this property. If you care about your family, avoid it.

I paid SIN$200 through Agoda for three nights, and it was a terrible deal. The location is good, but everything else in this suite was awful. The door lock was missing and the toilet kept leaking. They moved me to a second room, but its TV didn’t work either. I had to mop up water from the floor myself, and the stay was hard on me. I wonder how this place still gets good guest comments. Anyone considering this apartment should think twice and choose somewhere else. I’d really like a 100-point rebate.
