Hotel 99 - Sri Petaling

Food is easy to find here, with shops all around, so you won't go hungry. The room for three felt a bit small for me. It was clean, but the amenities were only the bare minimum for the price, and the walls did nothing to block the noise at night.

I want the management at 99 hotel to look into how a staff member treated us. The Malay staff member wearing a tudung spoke to customers in a rude, unkind tone, unlike the other staff. She reported us to the police station, saying we had used bad words, which is a lie. She only said “menyusahkan orang” with a rude expression. The management still hasn't called to ask what actually happened, yet we were banned despite not using bad words. Is that really the proper way to handle this?

The room had only one thin roll of toilet paper, and even basics like the locks were broken. The staff said every room had the same door lock issue and suggested using another lock. A year earlier, guests had already reported this problem, and staff said management had been informed, but nothing was fixed. I ran into the same issue on my first stay. I can't tell if staff never passed it on or the owner ignored it. When I asked to speak with the owner, I was told they were on holiday. I hope this reaches them and leads to real improvements instead of more excuses. If the owner is that stingy, perhaps they should go out of business. Consumers don't deserve this. I booked two single beds on Agoda and got one double instead. The only thing I liked was the convenient location for food and drinks. It was noisy too: the bar next door played music until 3 a.m., and cars honked early in the morning. The bathroom door lock was broken, and the damaged toilet seat shifted when my elderly mother sat on it, nearly making her fall. The air conditioning turned itself off while we slept. The hairdryer stopped halfway through and became unusable. At 12:02 p.m., the front desk called to remind us to check out. This was honestly the worst hotel I've stayed in.

Parking takes a bit of figuring out, though there's multi-level public parking nearby. Inside, the floor felt sticky, as if cleaner hadn't been rinsed off properly. The room was more spacious than I expected, and the water pressure was strong.
