Hotel MinCott

The rooms at the Mincott hotel were clean, and it’s a five-minute walk to NSK Kuchailama and nearby eateries. Still, one night was enough for me. There are no windows, which can quickly feel claustrophobic, and the air conditioning in our first room was faulty. It took a while to move us to another room at 10 pm. Service is minimal, so keep your expectations much lower if you stay here.

The room was comfortable, and the lady at reception was really nice 🙂. The window was locked and couldn’t be opened, so next time I might choose a room without one.

It was quiet and nice, and overall okay for one night. The air conditioning was having a bit of an issue and the room felt warm, but I left it as it was. I tried switching it off and on, and it got colder in the middle of the night 😅. At 45$sgd/night, it was my most expensive night in KL.

The location is great, with cafes and mamaks nearby, plus plenty of free guest parking that can be validated. You can ask the front desk for a hairdryer, and the lobby is nice for a 2-star hotel. My Superior Room was clean overall, and the toilet was spacious for a budget hotel. This could work for a short budget trip. There were several problems, though. The shower drain cover was only in the shower area, so the poor drainage design caused flooding. The water heater didn’t work, the room phone was dead, and there was no refrigerator despite it being listed. Soundproofing was weak, and I could hear people talking in the hallway. Housekeeping knocked at 9:30 AM to ask if we wanted service. We said no verbally about three times without opening the door, but the staff seemed unhappy and said in Malay, "like that also cannot open the door".
