Illuminate Boutique Hostel

The location is really convenient, right in front of a Monorail station and just a five-minute walk from Chinatown. The dorms were probably the best I’ve ever slept in, with comfy beds that give you some privacy and an attached bathroom. Everything was clean, cozy, and in very good condition. The staff were kind and super helpful, and there was always a nice vibe in the big common area and at their events. I’d definitely come back whenever I’m in K.L.

The private room was so clean and comfortable, and I slept better than I have in ages. The mattress and quilt were lovely, the room had air-conditioning, and they even supplied towels, shampoo, shower gel and a toothbrush kit. It was quiet all day and night. I loved the leafy design and furniture, and the staff were friendly and came from all over. Steven, the owner, was especially kind and helpful whenever you had a question. They care about the planet too, which I think is great. This place feels so much like home that leaving is the hard part. Best hostel in KL! I could write loads more about it 😄

Two adorable kittens, great dorm beds made in that solid wooden style, and clean, comfy rooms. The hostel has a big family feel, with an international team who know a remarkable amount about KL, Malaysia and beyond. They offer free breakfast and tours, plus lots of free advice. It’s right by a metro stop too.

I ended up adding four days to my stay after my visa for another country was denied. The hostel had such a fun, welcoming atmosphere that I spent the extra time hiking, singing and talking philosophy with everyone. People of all ages seemed to enjoy themselves while respecting each other, and I hope that feeling lasts. A special thanks to Alta, Agnes, and Steven for making my stay memorable.
