KL Skyline Hostel & Rooftop Infinity Sky Pool

The view from the balcony over the Twin Towers and the east of the city was amazing. The bed was clean and comfortable, with a charger port. There's a gym downstairs, a rooftop pool, and a moderately sized storage locker. Getting around the complex is a real hassle, though. The elevator can take 15 minutes or more, and getting to the nearest subway takes about 15 minutes even after it arrives. You have to find your way down through the basement garage, go outside, take a staircase along a highway, then navigate the multi-level mall to the right exit on the second floor. Check-in and finding the hostel were difficult, and leaving or returning stayed inconvenient even once I knew the route. The social atmosphere felt strange and cramped. What really bothered me was staff handling my belongings. One person took my clothes and put them in the drying room without asking. I found a cockroach in there, too. Another time I walked in and saw a receptionist in my room looking at my bed, not cleaning. Nothing was stolen, but it was a violation of privacy and showed little respect for guests or their things. There was no one at reception when I tried to check out during checkout hours. The key deposit was 50 ringgit, towels cost extra, and the room and bathroom weren't particularly clean.

The view was great, but the rest was a mess. This is more like an apartment with some bunk beds, and it was hard to find. The sheets and bed were really dirty, like they hadn't been washed, and the rest of the hostel wasn't very clean either. Someone in our room was sick, so the smell was awful. We asked to move to another room and were told that wasn't possible. I then booked another hostel, but they wouldn't refund even one night of the two I had planned to stay. Worst hostel experience I've had.

I wanted somewhere nice and peaceful, but the atmosphere didn't feel like that, so I left before checking in. If you don't have a booking, you have to make one outside on some stumps while life carries on around you, with kids playing and yelling and people talking and doing their own things. The laundry is outside too.

The beds were fine and the staff seemed okay, but the taxi stand charged me nearly three times the usual taxi price when I asked for help getting a cab. I don't like being ripped off, and I feel like you should be able to trust the place you're staying. I wouldn't return or recommend it, and I hope someone speaks to the gentleman at the taxi stand about this. KL has plenty of good deals, and this wasn't one of them.
