OYO 89652 Bjorn Boutique Hotel

The room was very small for the condition it was in, and the price didn't fit. We paid over RM150, but the room seemed worth less than RM100. The toilet had no lock, the TV didn't work, and they overcharged me RM2 even though the system showed I only needed to pay RM1. Totally bad.

I left early and couldn't even ask for my money back, because there was nobody there in the evening or the morning. The phone line I could have called to complain wasn't answered either, and staff were nowhere to be found. The room was dirty and stank of cigarette smoke, with no way to open a window. The door lock was very weak, so I felt unsafe. I've never experienced a worse hotel. Please avoid it if you can.

A big plus is the range of restaurants nearby, and the hotel is budget friendly. The room was smaller than I expected, with only two sockets that we could find for two queen beds. That's not a deal breaker, though. I first booked through Booking.com because I could pay after arriving and cancel for free, which was handy during rainy season in case the trip fell through. When I got to the property, the woman at the counter asked me to cancel that booking and book again there. It was a bit weird, but I did it since the new rate was cheaper, RM125 instead of RM131 on Booking.com.

We left after two nights once we found a better hotel. I’d booked three nights, but the staff said the room I reserved had been given to someone else. The room they gave us smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, even though we’d asked for a non-smoking room. We bought room spray ourselves, but it didn’t help. There was a cockroach the first night and I couldn’t sleep, and nobody cleaned the room. There was no reception staff around, so it felt like anyone could come and go. I’m never booking a cheap hotel like this again. Save your money.
