Roomy at Bukit Bintang

The apartment we booked through Agoda had several problems: the toilet sink and TV didn’t work, and there was a faulty smell in the bathroom. We paid RM387 for a two-room apartment, with check-in only at 3 pm and checkout at 11 am, so honestly we didn’t spend enough time there to feel the price was worth it 🤣. The place itself is impressive, though, especially the sun deck and moon deck, where you can watch the sunrise and moon while swimming. The facilities are excellent.

We loved the two pools on levels 32 and 37, and the apartment was great for families. Times square, pavilion, and other places are walkable. Having a washing machine, microwave, and kitchen stove was handy if you want to cook. The beds were too firm for us, the sheets didn’t seem new, and we found tiny ants. Also, it wasn’t a serviced apartment as I’d expected.

The building and pools were so great, and the concierge and other building staff were too. The apartment itself was incredible, but the kitchen wasn’t clean when we arrived and had lots of little ants. We had to throw out our bread the next morning. The microwave didn’t work, there was a cockroach in the bathroom, and the photos looked very different from the two-bedroom apartment we actually got. The bed had an old mattress. The owner only communicated through WhatsApp, which luckily we had, and was pushy and unfriendly. We had to check out at 11.00 or 11.45, but our flight wasn’t until 6 pm. They wouldn’t let us stay around the pool and shower before our 22-hour flight, even though the cleaning ladies were having lunch when we left. I’d never book with Victoria home again. Maybe Tribeca next time.

The room was tidy and clean, with a nice view, and I had a very good stay during my Malaysia trip in 2019. It’s centrally located, about a 15-minute walk to Twin Towers and 5 minutes to the Pavilion. The host was friendly and helpful, but isn’t there in person, so you should have a mobile phone to call if needed. You have to register with the concierge using information the host emails you. One drawback for backpackers is the 20RM per bag luggage fee after checkout, though you may be able to leave luggage before check-in. There’s also a 300RM deposit, paid back after checkout.
