Sovotel Boutique Hotel @ Bandar Menjalara

I checked in on 3/12/2025, and when I asked to cancel the room, they refused. The room was in terrible condition: there was no hair dryer, the bathroom mirror was falling off and the toilet door wouldn't close. Staff said all the rooms were like that. I had to tell the only staff member on duty that the shower-gel dispenser was empty and there wasn't any shampoo. All the TVs were supposedly “under maintenance,” whatever that means, and the aircon remote was faulty. I'll never come back.

That was easily the worst front desk experience I’ve had in all my travels. The staff were rude, got my name wrong, and harassed me at checkout. They took my key in the morning, then claimed I was a no-show and couldn’t find my reservation, even though I’d already checked in. I also found it unsanitary that they handled food with their hands and then touched paperwork and deposit cash. Horrible. Minus a million stars.

You get what you pay for, I guess. My room had no window, the TV didn’t work, and I had to stay on level 3 with no lift. The staff were rude and had no manners.

The room only looks acceptable. The bathroom and bedsheets were unacceptable, and the worst part was finding cockroaches and rats. I was on the third floor and still saw rats. I can’t accept that, so think carefully before choosing this place.
